Threads of Power: The Battle of Pavia Tapestries
This lecture inaugurates the exhibition Art and War in the Renaissance: The Battle of Pavia Tapestries. Thomas Campbell is a world expert on tapestry and the author of the principal essay in the exhibition’s richly illustrated catalog. He introduces the audience to the preeminence of tapestry as an artistic medium in the Renaissance and to this sumptuous cycle of Flemish tapestries depicting an epic battle in life-size action.

The story of her life is complex and sometimes contradictory, often based on anecdote and hearsay rather than serious research. The British curator and art historian Sarah Whitfield will present Marthe Bonnard as her own person rather...

Lovely compilation! At @26:13 we are talking about the creation of the New World and the start of the Long Count in 3114 BC, which ended on December Solstice, 2012, a 5,125 year cycle that is exactly 1/5 of the Precession of the Equinoxes, and exactly 144,000 days long, or 7,200 cycles of the 260-day Tzolk' een calendar.

I have only visited the Kimbell once many decades ago. I will be forwarding this video to architect friends of mine. Thank you again.

If there is one thing I remember from this insightful lecture, it shall be this: Kahn brought back the room as the fundamental unit of architectural expression, not flowing space without shape or boundaries (Mies), but a fixed and definite poetic enclosure.
